Busy Morning in the Ditch. The rail corridor through Columbia, SC, created in the 1980s to alleviate some rail congestion in the city, is known as the Ditch and has CSX and NS tracks side by side. This morning, AMTK 92 was running late due to debris on the tracks between Savannah and Columbia and arrived just as NS 237 was departing for Spartanburg on the Southern's W Line. Here, AMTK is pulling into the station while passengers wait to board and NS 237 begins pulling to a stop to allow the passenger train to head north toward Hamlet, NC.
