| AMTK 171 rounds Wooten Curve approaching the summit of Raton Pass. The grade just behind the train reaches a short section of a staggering 4%. The mountain does not pose much of a challenge for small Amtrak trains, but it was once a operational headache for the Santa Fe Railroad. Raton Pass now only regularly sees Amtrak, a very lonely piece of railroad.... |
