NIRC 1, the oldest operating locomotive in revenue service, does its duties of taking Metra Electric cars to and from Blue Island. Soon enough, NIRC 1 will not hold that title for long. With the 2 new GP23Ecos Metra bough (NIRC 10 and 11), this locomotive is rumored to be retired from service. As of now it is unknown if it will go to scrap or go to a museum.
