An eastbound Southern Pacific iron ore train heads east under Interstate 15 and past the vineyards of Ontario in the late 70s. SP SD39 5316 is teamed with a pair of SP U33Cs to pull this 60 (or so) car train, with a C-40-3 cupola caboose bringing up the markers. This train is most likely carrying iron ore imported to the US, bound for the Kaiser Steel mill in nearby Fontana. (Ontario, California – November 18, 1978)
