The second of two cars that Amtrak’s California Zephyr brought to Denver was WEBX 800007, a Pullman observation sleeper car that was built by the Budd Company of Philadelphia, PA in 1949. Called the “Babbling Brook, it was one of four identical cars built for the New York Central Railroad for use on the New England States, the NYC’s premier trains between Boston and Chicago.
The car is certified for 110 mph operation and can travel anywhere in the U.S. Its operations are based out of Albany, NY. The car features sleeping accommodations for 8 passengers, a lounge, full service kitchen, and individual heating and air conditioning in the four double bedrooms.
