On the Swiss National Day, the oldest locomotive of the Rhaetian Railways in regular service, Ge 4/4 I # 602 "Bernina", is pulling the Ruinaulta adventure train 1743 with open observation cars from Chur to Ilanz, running along the Vorderrhein between Trin and Versam-Safien. About 2 1/2 hours later this day, the locomotive and the first car (here the last car first class A 1251) derailed with train 1758 Ilanz-Chur between Valendas-Sagogn and Versam-Safien, when running in a mudslide caused by a heavy thunderstorm. Nobody was hurt, only some damage. The locomotive was delivered to the RhB on july 21th, 1947 and is more then 73 years in service now (interrupted when she was exhibited in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne (VHS) from march 2012 to november 2015).
