Remarks & Notes

Harvest States Cooperatives SW1 200 resting in the morning light at the Harvest States Elevator in Superior August 1990. The 200 was built as Portland Traction Co. 200 in March 1953. This is a very late model SW1 as production ceased in November 1953 after 661 units produced. During the 15 year production run of the SW1 the only real change came in mid 1950 when the cab windows above the hood was changed to square instead of arched like the NW2. SW1s are easy to spot by their single exhaust stack and sand box below the radiator grille. Harvest States(Now CHS) has five switchers to switch cars at it's massive Superior Elevator.
