Remarks & Notes
Back in 1986 I was promoted to a Road Foreman's position based in Chicago for the NEW SOO LINE RR that now included the entire Milwaukee Road property.....since us old Milwaukee guy's basically took over the RR and the old SOO management were out the door.."ironic ain't it"! Anyway we ravaged the property making the RR a much better property then it had ever been....the sad part was of course the sale of the original SOO property to the WC but alas business wise that was a good move too....alas Burkhardt was the best move for them...but I digress again.....so in 1990 my son was trying to hire out on the Soo Line/CP but they wouldn't let him as I was a manager and we could not have relatives on the property....a far cry from the old Milwaukee days since my whole family worked for the CMStP&P RR........so I saw that the only solution was to quit my management job and go back running an engine so as my kid could then hire out....and it worked.....so in 1991 the CP was looking for a RF based out of the Quad Cities to follow in Dick Hovey's foot steps and I said I'm your man.......anyway to make a long story short.....the photo above was taken at the 1992 Chicago RR show which I may add was totally paid for....my being there that is ...by the at the time CP RAIL.....Thanks CPR....bar none you were the best RR I EVER worked for but my heart will always be with the Milwaukee Road!!
