The eastbound train out of Rapid City is met with the 1st light of the day near Van Meter. If you ever go to Van Meter, prepare yourself to be in the middle of now where. It is crazy that people live it this desolate area, as seen by the only house for miles behind the train. I imagine winters out here can be brutal. The train snakes along the Bad River, and in about 7 miles will meet its counterpart MHURC at JC Siding. PRC Sub at its finest...10 mph railroading in the middle of now where.
