Chicago & North Western’s Proviso to Itasca freight makes a pick up at Butler Yard in a Wisconsin snowstorm on January 10, 1993. After merging into the Union Pacific, the long-standing C&NW yard office on the left was eventually torn down, its functions carried on at the former Wisconsin Division building on the other side of the Hampton Avenue overpass, that I am standing on for this photograph.
