This may look like Southern Pacific 70-ton 5100, and it was in fact Southern Pacific 70-ton 5100 when built by General Electric in April 1949 (and until 12/22/76), but it is actually Oregon Pacific Railroad 70-ton 5100. After its career ended on the SP, this diminutive locomotive was sold to Weyerhaeuser Timber Company on 3/16/77 where, in its new identity as WTCX 5901, is served the lumber company in Springfield OR. In 1988 it was sold to the East Portland Traction Company, which bestowed the original SP number upon it once again (as EPTC 5100). Later that year it became Samuels Steel Products 5100, and eventually, it found its way to EPTC successor OPR, which repainted it into SP colors because … well … why not? It looks great painted that way! (Milwaukie, Oregon – August 22, 2015)
