This evening's California Zephyr (#6) passes through Crescent, Colorado, as heavy snow falls accompanied by gusty winds. The temperature yesterday was 95 degrees, and the huge snow storm today not only dropped the temp 65 degrees, it was dropping major snow in the Rocky Mountains.
Two Amtrak routes serve the Centennial State. The California Zephyr's route through Moffat Tunnel and along the Colorado River goes from one end of the state to the other. The Southwest Chief cuts across the southeast corner.
