Life begins at 55. Both DL 2423 (neé-PRR 2423, Alco C425) and DL 2457 (neé-SPS 312, Alco C425) are 1965 products, made anew by the Genesee Valley Transportation Co., Inc. Delaware-Lackawanna shops. On Thursday, September 24, 2020, a new building was dedicated, greatly expanding the mechanical capacity, and easing the load on the “Alco Doctor”, Don Colangelo, who was on hand for the festivities and acted as “hostler” for the evening.
Taking a look at the same train and scene as captured by different photographers. The best way to view will be to sort by photo date so the photos are grouped together.
Don Colangelo, retired CMO (and sometimes piano player) at the DL Scranton shops cared for the many ALCOs, MLWs and a few EMDs that passed in and out of South Scranton and Von Storch shop doors.
Here is a look and many of those units.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
