| On the last day of the 2020 season, steamtrain 133 from Realp over the Furka pass to Gletsch and Oberwald is tackling the 11.0 % grade towards the Wiler viaduct near Realp. Pulling is the heavy 0-8-0 T HG 4/4 # 704, built by SLM Winterthur in 1923 for the Chemins de fer de l'Indochine (Indochina railway in the french colonies). In 1990, this locomotive was brought back from Vietnam to Switzerland more or less as scrap and is operational like new since 2018. Two days before, a cold spell brought snow to the Furka mountain line. |
