A Union Pacific "UPS, Expedited Intermodal" train (UP ZCIG2 28) climbs upgrade in San Timoteo Canyon after originating in the railroad’s Industry Yard (in the City of Industry) 52-miles back, and destined for the Global 2 intermodal facility in Proviso, Illinois. UP ES44AC 8243, ES44AC 7709, SD70M 3974, ES44AC 7856 and AC4400CW 6405 are providing 21,600 horsepower up front, with AC4400CW 5554 assisting mid-train with another 4,400 hp. And, no wonder 26,000 was required, as this train was 12,210-feet long, with 165 loads weighing 9121 tons. (Redlands, California – September 28, 2020)
