Remarks & Notes
NS 4002 leads a trio of Norfolk Southern locomotives on an Austell GA (NS) to San Bernardino, CA high priority intermodal train out of Crozier Canyon with Laughing Jack Point looming in the background. NS 4002 is one of the first Norfolk Southern locomotives to be rebuilt from DC power to AC power. When NS started this program, NS 4002 (and NS 4004) were repainted to commemorate the new locomotives (GE AC44C6M). BNSF has adopted a similar program of rebuilding their older 600's series Dash 9-44CW (ex-Santa Fe) from DC powered to AC powered locomotives within the last few years.
