Remarks & Notes
"LaserTrain at Mill Neck" Long Island Rail Road's "LaserTrain" heads west past the old Mill Neck Station on the Oyster Bay Branch. The station was opened by the LIRR as "Bayville Station" sometime in 1889s, then slightly relocated and renamed to Mill Neck in 1892. The station was slightly relocated twice more as a result of being burnt down on two occasions. The station was finally closed on March 16, 1998 but still survives as a post office and police substation. The entire low level platform remains intact. LIRR's LaserTrains consist of two MP15ACs sandwiching a retired Budd M3 pair equipped with technology installed by Laser Precision Solutions. They are tasked with vaporizing leaf residue off of the rails throughout the system. During the fall season, leaves fall onto the tracks which cause slip slide conditions when ran over by trains. Many railroads utilize rail washers for this issue but the LIRR has recently turned to this technology for the task.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
