Exiting Factoryville Tunnel on the Scranton-Binghamton Line are Boston & Maine GP40-2 302 and Delaware & Hudson C420 415 (ex-Lehigh Valley 415) pulling a D&H train. This was originally the Delaware Lackawanna & Western’s Scranton Division, relocated and upgraded around 1910 (the Lackawanna Cutoff and the Nicholson Cutoff). Not far beyond this tunnel’s other end, in Nicholson, is the massive Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct, the largest concrete structure in the world when completed in 1915. In the distance is the long-abandoned DL&W concrete Factoryville Control Tower. (Factoryville, Pennsylvania – January 1985).
