Remarks & Notes
Shiny Eagle
Looking just as elegant as the day it rolled out of the Edward G. Budd Company manufacturing plant, the Missouri Pacific Planetarium Dome Coach 892 is back in its original paint. Built in 1948 for the MoPac to be placed on its “Eagle” fleet passenger trains, this dome car has had quite a life. After its run on the Missouri Pacific, it was sent to the Illinois Central for its City of Miami & New Orleans trains in 1967. In a few short years this car would later find its way to the Heart of Dixie Museum in 1972. With new owners came numerous external paint scheme changes throughout the years, but in 2015 an external restoration was undertaken by the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum to make this dome car look as it did during the glory days of passenger rail service. Thanks to the great work by the volunteers at the Heart of Dixie and with help from the Missouri Pacific Historical Society, this vintage passenger car is back to wearing its original colors of blue and white with gold and silver striping.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
