Amtrak Cab Control Car, No. 9643, leads a Keystone eastbound around the bend at Gap, PA passing a nostalgic windmill while en route to New York via Philadelphia, PA.
AMTK No. 9643 has been in service for 53 years, to date, and was built in 1967 for the Pennsylvania Railroad for Metroliner service between Washington D.C. and New York. Originally numbered as 815, it entered service in 1969 rostered on the Penn Central. As they aged, and the AEM-7's came along, No. 815, and several other Metroliners were converted to "Cab Control Cars" in 1987. From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
