Remarks & Notes
A representation of D&H history in Washington County, NY was lined up on December 6th at the former junction between the D&H's Washington Branch and it's subsidiary Greenwich & Johnsonville. Posed on the south leg of the connecting wye is the BKRR 4116. This original D&H unit has been serving this line since the early 1970's and is in the scheme the D&H applied to it in September 1973. In the middle on a former D&H yard track is the RPCX 3021 in the D&H's black and yellow scheme worn by all D&H end cab switchers. The 3021 is a former Army and Staten Island Rapid Transit Alco S2 that was sold by SIRT to the Upper Hudson River RR. It was transferred to the Saratoga & North Creek who painted it in the current heritage scheme. After Iowa Pacific's bankruptcy it was rescued by a private owner. On the right on the former D&H Washington Branch "main" is the SNEX 5012. The former Atlantic & Danville unit wears the D&H lightning stripe scheme and carries a D&H road number that saw service on this former D&H Branch. It is lettered for the Southern New England RR.

New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
