Seventies Sunset In Squamish? No but almost like a reenactment, Genesee Valley Transportation Co., Inc. Mohwak, Adirondack, & Northern Railroad 805 (ex-BCOL 805, née Erie Lackawanna 2455, Alco C425, 10/1964) and 2042 (née-BCOL 642, MLW M420W, 9/1973) sit outside the railroad's Utica, New York shops on the evening of Friday, Decemeber 18, 2020. A significant snowfall the day before and temperatures in the teens keeps an icy feel. While Charles Millar and Son has been out of business for many years, its name is still on the brick building in the background, with the former New York Central Railroad (currently Amtrak) station to the right.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
