Remarks & Notes
A long lost heritage unit? No. There's no direct lineage of the New York Central to Amtrak. While the NYC had a long history, the unthinkable happened when it merged with rival PRR to form Penn Central in 1968. The failing PC handed over its passenger service to Amtrak in 1971 before completely hanging up the towel in 1976.
