The standard helper set of the era, a pair of SD40-2s, shove a westbound manifest past the block station (as Pennsy referred to its towers) at MG on an April day that yielded quite a snowstorm.
This block station controlled a set of universal crossovers between the three main tracks and was open part-time as necessitated by MofW work or other irregularities - in this case, the weather.
MG was quite the attractive structure, indicative of the status the Pennsylvania Railroad placed upon its block stations. It was constructed during the WWII years.
