Remarks & Notes
A sheep among wolves. CAGY 8718, the sole remaining unit on the east end in green and yellow CAGY colors, rests in front of the roundhouse after working the Columbus Brickyard earlier that day. 8718 began life in 1956 as GP9 NH 1224. It would go on to work for Penn Central (#7554), Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority, IC (#8718), and the ICG before making its way to CAGY. For the last few months, 8718 had been relegated to working the brickyard here in town, never venturing out of town. Recently, this engine was traded in to Larry's Truck and Electric, marking the first time in probably decades that the city of Columbus finds itself without the green and yellow engines of the CAGY. CAGY 8715 is still in original colors on the west end of the line, and CAGY 2777 is possibly still in original colors in Fountain, Al; however, I'm unsure if they too might have been included in the deal with Larry's Truck and Electric. While there may not be any green and yellow left, the G&W continues to do a fine job of operating this portion of the CAGY.
