On March 3, 2021 an eastbound manifest train derailed near Ludlow, putting 44 cars on the ground. It took a few days to get rail traffic restored but almost 2 months later there are the remains of several refrigerated cars still at the site. They seem to be scrapping the cars on site.
A lone axel is buried in the dirt with what looks like the next car to be scrapped. There are 7 more to the west that likely await a similar fate. The moon and me opening my car door without thinking about it provided the light for this shot.
