| A perfect New England Spring day was quickly turning into evening rather quickly on May 17, 2021. Thanks to a somewhat steady sea breeze, Canadian Pacific's Searsport Job could be heard in the distance over ten miles away on it's journey back toward Hermon. The tree line shadows were advancing fast from behind and had pretty much overtaken the nearby apple blossoms in Frankfort, Maine as F13 sounded off for the nearby Old Stage Road crossing. A moment later, "ECO" 2266 stepped out into the light at West Hill in view from the field below my house. Nothing like wrapping up a birthday in style! One thing that hasn't changed for me in the past 30 years of photographing railroads....how the mind wanders when hearing a freight train approaching from way off until it gets to you....It never gets old. |
