Remarks & Notes
A quartet of SD45s – 2 from Union Pacific (3646 and another 3628) and 2 from Rio Grande (5327 and 5338) – grind up Cajon Pass with an empty coal train, headed back to Utah. Rio Grande SD45s were a common sight in southern California in the 1970s, as they were commonly mixed with UP power on the coal trains headed for the Kaiser Steel mill in Fontana CA. (Cajon Pass, California – July 2, 1978)
