Mixed in among the nearly constant parade of Intermodal trains on BNSF Railway Needles Sub are a few "loose car" freights. One of these is seen there, as train H-BELBAR 3-12 (a High Priority Merchandise operating between Belen NM and Barstow CA) rounds the curve at milepost 694 – kinda, sorta midway between Needles and Barstow (if 32 miles west of center qualifies as "kinda, sorta".) Today's "BELBAR" has 97 cars stretching for 6293-feet, pulled by BNSF ES44C4 6767, ES44AC 5760, ES44C4 4265, ES44DC 7637 and ES44AC 5848 up front, and BNSF ET44C4 3863 and ES44C4 6602 on the rear – those late-model GE diesels all look so different! Note the DODX Flat with three US Marine Corps vehicles above the 6767's cab. (Ludlow, California – July 14, 2021)
