With lantern in hand, the crew of the G&J local oil up their D&H Locomotive for it's run south and high-ball at Cambridge station.
As part of a fundraising event with NE-Rail in part by Raven Rail LLC & well known night rail-photographer William Gill, lighting was setup at the former D&H Cambridge Station on the Batten Kill Railroad Friday evening for a night photo-shoot w/ Hal Raven's D&H 3021 (former US Army ALCO S2) & restored G&J Caboose outside the station also highlighting the historical buildings that still remain.
Hal and his friend dressed up as if it was 1940 again to recreate a scene of what might have been. Many great photographers came out for the "Rails & Ales" event as the station is now a counter part to the local Argyle Brewing Co. in Greenwhich, NY.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
