One of Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway’s new cog diesel-electric locomotives and trainset approach the Manitou Springs station on the morning of August 25, 2021. Three trains were built by Stadler Rail of Switzerland with each trainset consisting of a locomotive and three passenger cars, with the last car additionally equipped as a cab control car. The M&PPR reopened in May 2021, after being shut down for nearly four years—during which time the railway was totally reconstructed, older cars were rebuilt and this new equipment was built and delivered.
