Remarks & Notes
Railcar Bhe 1/2 # 22 of the steepest rack railroad in the world (what is written on the car in Russian!) descends below Pilatus Kulm as train CC 24 to Alpnachstad, the travel time is about 40 minutes. Here (as well as on another section in the lower part) is the maximum slope of 48% and you can see that the driving car is slightly inclined to the "back". Most of the cogwheel railcars of Pilatusbahnen date from the year of electrification, 1937, and are in daily service on the mountain in summer. 8 new railcars have been ordered to replace these vehicles in 2023. The Pilatusbahn from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm was opened in 1889 and is the only one to use the Locher cogwheel system, the height difference is 1635 meters, the line length is 4618 meters.
