With the last vestiges of fall color clinging to the trees, Amtrak's daily Pennsylvanian makes its decent around the World Famous Horseshoe Curve. #108 has been the regular power this week, allowing for some colorful images with Pennsylvania Railroad EFS-17M (aka GP9) #7048 in the low morning sun.
#7048 is fresh from its most recent cosmetic restoration, which included correctly painting the locomotive in its as-delivered Dark Green Locomotive Enamel, and lettering from the correct PRR diagrams. The low autumn morning sun shows the color is, in fact, green! The museum accomplished this for less than $5,000 and over 120 hours of volunteer labor.
