Remarks & Notes
Following the passage of a southbound autorack; the attachment of the lifting cables began, and finally what most came for; the pick began. This is a slow tedious process and requires the skill of experience crane operators. After lifting, and swung over the multiaxle hauler belonging to J. Supor of Harrison, NJ. Yes, J. Supor did the moving. This was rather a moment of pride for me; as Supor has moved many locomotives in around my former area of residence in Brooklyn NY. They moved Southern 385, to Whippany, NY; and moved the "Miracle on the Hudson" the US Airways Airbus A320 plane piloted by Chesley Sullingberger the made an emergency landing in the Hudson River in January 15, 2009 by www.jsupor.com/ While this pick was important publicity wise; any such mishap or damage would not cost the customer (Texas A&M millions of dollars, nor would it cost them lost revenue. Deep South rigs and lifts reactors, catalytic units, fractioning towers, coke drum and many other assorted types of equipment for refineries and industrial firms weighing millions of pounds and costing multi millions of dollars. While an easy pick, with this many people watching, nothing was left to chance, and performed as professionally and safely as if the 4141 was as delicate as an eggshell. Here is where my series ends. The haul was scheduled after the sun had set, and with police escort, sub par lighting, and the fact at tis point I had been awake for 28 hours straight and still had an hour to drive home, I didn't want the trip to be in the dark.
