11 years ago on April 27th, 2011, the town of Cordova, Alabama was raked by not one, but two large, violent Tornadoes. The first being an EF3 early that morning and the second one being an EF4 later that afternoon, that day was one of the deadliest Tornado outbreaks in U.S. history, 62 Tornadoes state wide and 252 deaths, 13 of those being in the Cordova area.
Pictured above is BNSF Vehicle Train V-BIRSBD1-04 heading north passing by where one of those Tornadoes went through that awful day.
A lot of new homes have been rebuilt in the area, but even though it's been 11 years, the scars from that day can still be seen, with slabs from old homes, bare trees and the overall landscape.
April 27th, 2011 will be a day Alabama will never forget.
