With the Pacific Ocean on the train’s left and San Elijo Lagoon on its right, BNSF Officer Special O-SDGLAC9-13A is making good time as he heads from San Diego to Los Angeles (well, technically, Commerce, which is very near downtown LA). Engineer Ed Tumbas will have a smooth run this morning, following Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 567 which has station stops to make, but can operate faster than the ES44ACs (BNSF 25th Anniversary engines 5828 and 6163) on this 16-car train, so there will be no obstacles in his way.
