Stacks On The Extra. On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, a Los Angeles Junction Railway (LAJ) "extra" job was called in addition to the regular assignments that are operated in the morning. For over 20 years, LAJ has been a wholly owned subsidiary of BNSF Railway but serves both Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF as a switching railroad in the Vernon/Los Angeles, California area. Although the majority of freight that moves across the LAJ is carload freight for local customers it does move anything necessary for either carrier.
