Passing Geraniums neatly-planted along the platform at Hinsdale, Illinois, is a westbound Metra “dinky” accelerating after discharging passengers at the station stop on the pleasant spring afternoon of May 28, 1992. Burlington Northern’s busy triple track main line is seeing the afternoon rush of commuter trains pass through, and by this date, commuter trains on BN’s route were powered with a mixture of BN E9s and Metra’s new F40PHM-2 units.
