Connecticut Southern's workhorse Hartford, CT-West Springfield, MA freight is the victim of a long-standing challenging track layout in Springfield. In order to access CSX's West Springfield Yard across the Connecticut River, the train must first pull through the Springfield passenger station, then perform a reverse move across the river into the yard. It's not ideal, but it gets the job done.
