50 years SBB symbol! The SBB signet as we know it today was introduced in 1972, when it replaced the impeller that had been in use since 1938. The new logo was selected on the basis of an image analysis and campaign. It was designed by Bernese graphic artist Hans Hartmann, who wanted to portray SBB as a "reliable, solid and dynamic public service company". But also a company that belongs to and serves all Swiss citizens. Hence the cross in the middle, which represents the Swiss cross. On the left, an unknown Re 460 is leaving Zürich main station with the Intercity 585 of the line IC 3 bound for Chur. On the right is "Swiss Express" Re 4/4 II # 11109 (Re 420 # 109) in front of the NightJet 465 to Buchs SG-Feldkirch-Graz. The Re 4/4 II # 11109 was delivered to the SBB on third june, 1967 and is more then 55 years in service now!
