Building Everywhere. There is construction seemingly everywhere in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, New York, bringing tall residential buildings to a neighborhood once dominated by “taxpayer” style buildings and factories. As Amtrak Train 865 approaches East 144 Street on the afternoon of Thursday, June 16, 2022, a quick look at the mid ground shows a while group of structures that have been erected within the past decade. The train was making the last of the annual crew requalification runs to Grand Central Terminal for Amtrak crews, preserving their credentials for another year. The P42DC functions as a cab car and has its engine shut down as the train enters and exits GCT on the 3rd rail powered P32. The Manhattan Skyline is still visible in the background, with the Met Life Building, Freedom Tower, and Empire State Building still in view, but one wonders for how long from this angle.
