Kansas City Southern Dash 9-44CW 4400's heritage is easy to discern, as it still wears the colors for BNSF Railway, from which GECX acquired it, and from whom the KCS leases it for "horsepower hours." KCS 4400, however, is not the former BNSF 4400, but rather BNSF 4794, retired in September 2019. However, with the slowdown in business thanks to Covid and, of late, supply chain issues, KCS has placed many of their former BNSF Dash 9s into deadlines at the railroad's Knoche Yard.
