3 Decades. During a photographers special on the New York & Lake Erie RR Train Rides on Saturday, June 25, 2022, a combo scene at the former Erie Railroad depot in South Dayton, NY brought together a group of mid-20th Century Classics. Recently reactivated NYLE 308 (née-Erie 308, S1, Alco) represented the 1940s, MLWs FPA4 6764 (ex-VIA 6764, neé-CN 6764) and FPA2 6758 (ex-VIA 6758, neé-CN 6758) represented the 1950s and a For Thunderbird was added, built in 1965. Scheduled passenger service ended on this line in 1960.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
