After spending most of the evening resolving some issues with the train, the crew of CSX M583-26 (Nashville,TN-Rocky Mount,NC) slowly brings the freight south through Tyner Holdout following the heels of the “Dalton Turn.” Another example of a class of locomotive that hasn’t been seen on the road in a while is the 4700 series SD70M’s. With freight car counts slowly starting to go back to pre-pandemic levels CSX has gone under heavy scrutiny, and criticism by the STB over this Precision Schedule Railroading practice, forcing CSX hands to bring more locomotives out of storage.
