Newest Train In The Newest Station. On the night of July 27, 2022, a 5-car set of Kawasaki R-211As (NYCT 4065 leading north) made 2 round trips to test "thermal capacity". These cars are the second of 2 sets of R-211As to be delivered to the MTA NYCT Subway, and arrived about a year ago. In that time, they have been tested extensively. The order could be as few as the 535 cars in the base order up to as many as 1,612 cars if all options are exercised. The train is seen at the 96 Street-2nd Avenue Station in New York, NY, which opened on January 1, 2017, one of 3 stations that commenced service that day as part of the new Second Avenue Subway.
