An unusual late summer appearance on the North Jersey Coast Line, NJTR 4209 (GP40PH-2B) was working the “shuttle” on NJ TRANSIT Train 4732 (Bay Head, NJ-Long Branch, NJ) on Saturday, September 3, 2022 when it was seen crossing the Shark River in Belmar, New Jersey, This 53 year old veteran began its life in freight service for Penn Central Railroad, but has now been with New Jersey Transit for about half of its life.
