Remarks & Notes
At the open day in the Vennes workshop of Lausanne Metro M2 to celebrate 175 years of Swiss Railways. Rubber-tired two-car metro trains, supplied by Alstom in 2006, modeled on the MP89 trains of the Paris Metro. The M2 line in Lausanne, opened in 2008, is 5.9 km long and has 14 stations. The highest gradient is 12% and the height difference covered from Ouchy down by Lake Geneva to Epalinges-Croisettes is 336 meters. The operator of the railroad is Transports publics de la région lausannoise (TL). There are 15 trains, the operation is fully automated, there is no staff on the trains. The traction of the trains works because of the large gradients over the pneumatic wheels on lateral tracks, the track guidance mainly over steel wheels on rails (standard gauge), with additional pneumatic wheels laterally.
