Rocky Route. On September 18, 2021, BNSF 6851 (ES44C4) led a rock train W-SBDSBD down the shores of the Pacific Ocean at Calafia Beach in San Clemente, California. Due to erosion that had been found, the line was closed to Amtrak and Metrolink passenger trains while a number of trains were brought in to secure the shore line. About a year later in 2022, the area is under a similar shutdown while other measures are taken to secure the track and surrounding land. In this photo, one can see the car dumping the rock from the train as well as the excavators that have been brought in to place them in a more stable location.
