Remarks & Notes
Autumn Colors. The foliage colors were very bright (if not the sky) on the morning of Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in South Charleston, West Virginia. Amtrak’s tri-weekly Cardinal (Train 50) was led by Amtrak 40th Anniversary heritage unit AMTK 184 (P42DC, Phase IV) as it passed under Montrose Drive and approached the station stop in Charleston. This locomotive matches the stripes and colors of the AmFleet IIs, and wears the paint scheme very well as this class was painted Phase IV for several years.

Powerful members of Congress once helped this scenic state get levels of service not seen elsewhere. Now the Capitol Limited and Cardinal are all that remain.
