Kawasaki built R211T brings up the rear as the delivery train as it crosses 3rd Avenue near 38th Street. Into the MTA NYCT Subway South Brooklyn Railroad Yard. In a moment R47 69 (45T) will be coupled up for the trip to Coney Island.
Gangway! On the overnight of Wednesday, November 2-Thursday, November 3, 2022, Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA NYCT Subway took delivery of the first 5 R211Ts, the "open gangway" configuration of the newest model of subway car. While the design is very similar to the R-211A, the cars have different car ends that will have exterior covers installed to allow for passengers to walk in between cars. The cars were delivered to the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal of NYNJ Railroad by truck in previous days and transported to the subway system via the South Brooklyn Railroad. In the base order, 20 of the 535 cars will have the T configuration. On October 25, 2022, the (MTA) Board’s New York City Transit Committee voted to exercise the new 640 car options which will bring the full order to 1,175 cars (R211A/S/T). The first group of 10 R211As is presently still undergoing testing around the system.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
